Happy Dog

Hi, I’m Joe — and I built Pet Gear Pal for dog owners like us.

Honest reviews and practical guides for dog owners who actually care what goes in — and on — their dog.

It started with a rabbit hole.

A few years ago, my dog started having digestive issues. Nothing dramatic — just soft stools, low energy, a coat that had lost its shine. The vet said try a different food. So I did what any responsible dog owner does: went online to research.

Three hours later I’d read fourteen conflicting Reddit threads, two affiliate-stuffed “best dog food” roundups that all recommended the same brands, and a forum post from 2017 referencing a recall that may or may not have been resolved. I was more confused than when I started.

That’s when the idea for Pet Gear Pal clicked. Not because I thought I knew more than everyone else — but because I was tired of the same problem every time: a sea of content written to rank, not to actually help.

What I cover.

Pet Gear Pal covers food, gear, health, and accessories — the decisions that actually affect your dog’s daily quality of life. I go deep on the things that matter and write the kind of specific, opinionated content I wished existed when I was making the same calls.

How I research.

Every guide starts with a real question — one I’ve seen dog owners genuinely struggle with. From there, I read the studies where they exist, compare products hands-on where I can, and factor in real owner experiences from vet forums, breed-specific communities, and verified reviews. I’m not a lab. But I’m thorough, and I cite my sources.

I’m also honest about what I don’t know. If the research is genuinely mixed, I say so. If a product category is basically the same across brands at different price points, I’ll tell you that — even if it means you spend less.

My promise to you.

I will always tell you what I actually think. If a $15 bowl outperforms a $60 one, I’ll say so. If a popular food brand has ingredients I’d skip, I’ll say that too. I use affiliate links on some recommendations — if you buy through a link, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That’s how I keep the site running. But it never changes what I recommend. If a product isn’t worth it, I won’t recommend it. Full stop.

Got a question? A product you want me to look at?

I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
